great advice that i've also given others, in my case fast food says my extensive background in the insurance claims field causes them to reject my application as they are looking for career-minded individuals, I swallowed my pride and became a security guard, then when my car quit for good, then got rid of me for not getting all over town on time by bus, they'd place me in different cities nearby often with no bus service and limited taxi and no one to ask to drive me to and from work even at the work site. I then took a closer job that had a end shift time of midnite twice per week with no bus service at that late an hour, and no one (ast least they said) was going my way, I ended up walking all the way home from midnite to 3am alone in the dark in an area with a high crime rate. I also cleaned motel/hotel rooms until one of the ladies framed me saying I stole things out of a room yet the boss believed me, then someone said I took a co-worker's expensive curling appliance from the ladies room, I didn't even know what they were talking about, but since I didnt mind keeping things left behind in the rooms like fruit, pop, snacks after they checkout (which is also allowed) they decided I must've taken the curling device too. I didn't and when I ran into one of the girls they said when I left the device suddenly turned up out of nowhere. I had been gone over a week by then.  Now with no car and Merry Maids not liking my extensive background either they don't even hire this lady to sweep floors or something.  I don't know what I'm going to do. ..Keep walking til 3am and go back to that position til finally i'm raped or killed? What's someone like me to do?

Thanks for your reply.  Yes i've contacted angelfood ministries in my area but...i needed to go and pickup the food and prepay 2 weeks ahead of time ( I honestly have absolutely zero coming in at this time) It's a wonder I keep ticking through all this.  I walk around with less than pennies in my wallet. If it weren't for my daughter needing a sitter I would be sleeping on the street again, at least then I had a car though. Other places that have a food program nearby rarely have enough or have what i'm allergic too which is quite a list. Someone just told me to see a doctor who will document that I have food allergies so I can get medicaid and food stamps/card, I'll try it again but the state says my daughter is above the income requirements even while I'm staying there, and can only give food assistance to the head-of-household when they qualify.  Oh and well ...I can't even get a nickel from my daughter, she's says "go get a job" then when I have an interview she leaves it up to me to find someone to keep my grandkids. I know a few nice bus drivers who let me ride on courtesy otherwise I don't know how I'd get to an interview.

Great advice on a home business startup....I've been harboring an idea for a long time I titled myself to become a "neighborhood navigator" of sorts where I and any helper agents/operators can be Live internet-assisted city/state navigators for commuters  and travellers. SOmeone suggested I apply for a government startup loan for small businesses, but it costs to get the documents unless i've looked in the wrong places.  I now have the idea to extend the service into any information drivers or persons without the internet need to have looked up immediately. I still intend to get it going, but Im waiting for one of these interviews to turn up something then invest much of it into getting started. I already have the computer and the phone...I just need Hi-speed and an 800 number and the means at first to cover keeping it and keeping up with advertising, promotions, and demand.  Your business consultant service will really come in handy so you haven't heard the last of me.

I've been wondering that same thing, could be because public shelters have proven need and the public walk-ins often trade away their food assistance card use in exchange for cash,..or poor parents often spend ample enough money for food on cigarettes, beer, car parts, hair, nails, etc. I'm going to a soup kitchen this week and looking for a church food pantry program.

Well friends...this is hard for me to do...I've always been able to pull my own weight, raised my daughter by myself without assistance or much family support.  Last few years have been extremely difficult, unlucky or something. I've always been one of the first to donate to anyone in need and never passed by a homeless person. Today I'm typing this on borrowed time with a growling stomach....I went to bed with the same...All I have is bread. A loaf of bread. I'm losing 1-2 pounds everyday. (I don't qualify for state aid cause I have no dependents) It's getting scary...it's going on 3 weeks now living on toast.  This site is a last resort. I just need some food.
